This training will provide participants with best practices for working with survivors and their children in order to foster resiliency, strengthen the parent-child bond, and build the protective actions of survivors as parents. Participants will learn new ways to engage and work with children and youth in group and shelter settings, and the strategies and skills necessary to effectively address how domestic violence and home visitation programs can work together to support families.

Shelly NewmanKCSDV Parent Child Program Coordinator
Shelly Newman brings to KCSDV eight years of experience working with survivors of domestic abuse and their children. At KCSDV, Shelly works with local domestic violence programs and home visitation programs on issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Shelly has facilitated trainings on topics related to the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence and how children are impacted.
