The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, with a branch office in Washington, DC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization seeking a full-time CEO, who will be based in Harrisburg. The new CEO will follow an incumbent who will be retiring after 23 years. Founded in 1975 and recognized nationally for its work, PCAR, strives to end sexual violence and advocates for the rights and needs of sexual assault victims. To achieve these ends, PCAR partners with a network of more than 50 rape crisis programs throughout Pennsylvania by providing funding, education, materials, and assistance to bring help, hope, and healing to victims. A major arm of PCAR is the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) which provides national leadership in preventing and responding to sexual violence through collaboration, sharing and creating resources, and promoting research. NSVRC maintains the world’s largest specialized library collection pertaining to sexual violence

PCAR, with 50 employees and a $20M annual budget funded largely through state and federal grants and contracts, is looking for the right person to build on the organizational and programmatic foundations which have been established and take it to the next level. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Board Chair, the new CEO’s top priorities will include strengthening and expanding PCAR’s brand, developing new sources of funding, and collaboratively developing and implementing the goals of the next strategic plan.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree desirable) along with 10 years of high-level administrative/managerial experience. While experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred, public / private sector or corporate leadership experience is acceptable when combined with community involvement demonstrated by serving on boards, committees, or task forces in significant leadership roles.

Other experience and competencies include: strong strategic planner and visionary; collaborative leadership; strong interpersonal, communications and listening skills; high levels of energy, creativity, and initiative; business acumen; political savviness; strong fundraising abilities; advocacy experience; deep understanding of people and societal issues; and supervisory experience.
