Suzanne Brown-McBride began her work on behalf of sexual assault victims in
1991 as a community education specialist and advocate. Since that time, she
has managed and directed sexual assault and domestic violence service
programs in Oregon and Washington State. Before beginning her tenure as
Executive Director of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault
(www.calcasa.org) in 2006, Suzanne was the Executive Director of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault
Programs (www.wcsap.org) in Olympia, Washington.
Over her career, Suzanne has focused her efforts on the development of
effective public policy and legislation related to sexual assault
victimization, the supervision of sex offenders, and community responses to
violence.
Suzanne is a gubernatorial appointee and Chair of the newly created
California Sex Offender Management Board, as well as an appointee to The
California Alliance to Combat Trafficking and Slavery. She is a founding
member of the Steering Committee for the National Sexual Violence Resource
Center (www.nsvrc.org), a Board Member of the Council of State Governments
Justice Center (www.justicecenter.csg.org) and the National Alliance to End
Sexual Violence (www.naesv.org).
Suzanne has been honored to receive the "Outstanding Contribution to Victim
Services Award" from the National Crime Victim's Law Institute
(www.ncvli.org), "The Governor's Crime Victim Advocacy Award" from Governor
Schwarzenegger and the "Fay Honey Knoff Award" from the California Coalition
on Sexual Offending (www.ccoso.org).
Stacey Mann is the Director of Advocacy Services for the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV). She has a Master's in Social Work from the University of Kansas and has been with the KCSDV for seven years. Prior to her work at KCSDV Stacey was a domestic violence advocate at the Women's Transitional Care Services in Lawrence, KS where she provided assistance to shelter residents and crisis line callers, peer counseling support, court advocacy, advocate training, and community education on domestic violence. She has also worked as a social worker/case manager at Truman Medical Center Behavioral Health where she developed and facilitated psychosocial/support groups for women at area domestic violence shelters and provided training on mental illness to domestic violence shelter staff. At TMC she also provided case management for homeless persons with severe mental illness and training for TMC staff on domestic violence.
Laurel Klein Searles is the Staff Attorney at the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV). She joined KCSDV in May 2008 after graduating from Washburn School of Law with dean's honors. While in law school, Laurel served on the Editorial Board for the Washburn Law Journal. She also served as a legal extern for both the Honorable K. Gary Sebelius Magistrate Judge for the District of Kansas and KCSDV. Laurel also worked as a law clerk and research assistant during law school. Prior to attending law school, Laurel earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in business administration.
