Domestic Violence through an Inclusive Lens: An Introductory Training for Allied Professionals
June 12, 2017 - Wichita, KS

This day-long training will provide an inclusive overview of the impact and dynamics of domestic and dating violence for allied professionals. As a result of this training, participants will understand the ways domestic violence impacts diverse populations and learn how to provide culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed, and empowerment-based support for victims. This training will cover introductory-level content on the dynamics of domestic violence with an emphasis on the impact on marginalized communities, and how to provide culturally-responsive, trauma-informed support to all victims of domestic violence.

This training is intended to be an introductory course for allied professionals who may work with victims of sexual violence. In this course we will discuss: the dynamics of sexual violence, consent, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, how to be trauma-informed when working with victims of sexual violence, and how to best connect victims with the appropriate services.
