No CommentsApril is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On March 29, 2019, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly proclaimed the month of April 2019 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Kansas. The Kansas Coalition Against Sexual Domestic Violence and partners were present for the proclamation signing ceremony.

NNEDV Celebrates U.S. Government House Passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.1585, a bill to reauthorize and expand the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The vital legislation passed on a bipartisan vote of 263-158. The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) applauds the bill’s sponsors Representatives Bass (D-CA) and Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and all those who voted for VAWA’s passage.

KCSDV’s Empowered Families Kansas Project: Youth Mentoring Across Kansas

The Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) began the Empowered Families Kansas Project in 2016. Five domestic violence advocacy programs in Kansas serve as project sites, providing mentorship to youth ages 8-18 who have experienced domestic violence, teen dating violence, and co-occurring bullying. Each site has a youth advocate mentor who works one on one with youth and their non-abusing parents and caregivers.
