Position: Accounting Assistant

Responsible to: Director of Finance and Administration

Primary Responsibilities: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative functions to support the organization's financial operations. Assist with accounts payable processing, maintain vendor and financial records, assist with payroll and benefits administration, support grant and audit reporting, and help ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial transactions. Provide staff support and training on purchasing and payment procedures while maintaining established financial controls and administrative processes.

Specific Duties:

Manage accounts payable process in conjunction with accounting contractor and staff
Collect and process recurring invoices
Maintain digital purchase order and AP system and provide ongoing training and support to staff for payment processes
Prepare all payments including paper checks and electronic payments
Maintain vendor files and W-9s
Reconcile credit card statements
Prepare and complete bank deposits
Submit payroll tax and benefit deposits
HR Maintenance of benefits, including open enrollment,
Monitor garnishments and other one-off payroll adjustments in conjunction with accounting team
Submit required payroll reports such as 941 and SUTA
Request grant reimbursement drawdowns in accordance with funding requirements.
Work with accounting staff to prepare W-2s and 1099s
Assist with updating policies and procedures
Perform bookkeeping functions for Friends of KCSDV
Prepare various annual compliance reports
Assist with annual audit preparation

Employment Status: Fulltime (36 hours/wk.), nonexempt (hourly)

Salary Range: $45,000. We know that the practice of salary negotiation can contribute to pay inequities, this starting salary is non-negotiable. Our compensation structure—as well as our approach to future compensation adjustments—is transparent to all employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed: Two years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred; nonprofit accounting experience is a plus; demonstrated proficiency in MIP/Abila or other accounting software; high level of initiative, detail management, and organization on matters of significance; ability to prioritize, work independently and with a team, meet deadlines, and display superior perception skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience reflecting progressively increased work responsibilities.

Location: This position offers a collegial working environment in our offices in downtown Topeka, KS. with a hybrid in-person/remote work schedule. Remote work is set for most staff as Mondays and Fridays, with weekly

office hours as 8:30am-5:00pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30am-12:30pm

(Fridays).

Position: Primary Prevention Coordinator

Responsible to: Director of Advocacy

Primary Responsibilities: The Primary Prevention Coordinator leads Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence's (KCSDV) efforts to advance primary prevention strategies that reduce sexual violence across Kansas. Working within a public health framework, this position coordinates statewide and community-level efforts to implement the Kansas Strategic Plan to Prevent Sexual and Domestic Violence, with a focus on the community and social conditions that promote safety and reduce the risk of violence. The Primary Prevention Coordinator serves as a convener, facilitator, and relationship-builder, bringing together diverse partners across sectors for systems change and sexual violence prevention-focused initiatives.

Specific Duties:

In collaboration with the Kansas Department for Health and Environment, lead implementation of CDC-funded prevention initiatives and activities outlined in the RPE Workplan and the Kansas State Plan to Reduce Sexual and Domestic Violence.
Build and maintain relationships with diverse partners, including sexual and domestic violence programs, public health agencies, businesses, healthcare organizations, community-based organizations, tribal communities, policymakers, and other impacted groups/communities.
Provide training, technical assistance, coaching, and resources to community partners with a focus on sexual assault service providers and KCSDV to strengthen prevention program capacity.
Support partners in identifying and implementing evidence-informed strategies that address community and societal conditions that contribute to sexual violence.
Represent KCSDV in statewide meetings, workgroups, conferences, and training opportunities related to violence prevention and public health.
Support work with the contracted evaluation partner for outcome evaluation of the project, including data collection, continuous quality improvement, and assessment of community and systems-level outcomes.
Track project activities, partner engagement, implementation milestones, and outcomes; prepare reports and documentation required by funders and to support the impact of the project.
Ensure compliance with grant requirements, including timely reporting and documentation of activities and expenditures.
Stay informed about emerging research, evidence-based practices, and national trends in primary prevention, sexual violence prevention, community organizing, public health, and health equity.
Assist with other KCSDV duties as assigned.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse partners and build collaborative relationships. Commitment to advancing social justice, equity, and the rights of survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

We are especially grateful to Christina Love for leading a powerful and engaging conversation grounded in her work as an Indigenous storyteller, survivor, and national advocate. Drawing on years of experience training professionals across the country, Christina brings a unique approach that blends storytelling, cultural knowledge, and trauma-informed practice to help systems better understand and respond to survivors. Her work challenges assumptions, centers lived experience, and equips professionals with tools to respond in ways that build trust, respect autonomy, and promote long-term healing.

Through this training, participants explored how domestic violence, trafficking, homelessness, and economic instability are deeply connected, and how those intersections increase vulnerability for survivors across Kansas. The conversation pushed us to question common myths, rethink how harm shows up in our communities, and strengthen coordinated, culturally responsive approaches to support.

These conversations matter. When we come together across systems, listen to survivors, and rethink how we respond, we build stronger pathways to safety, accountability, and support for all survivors.

23rd Annual Advocacy Day for Victims and Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence

KCSDV , Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Agencies, and Allies come together for 23rd Annual Advocacy Day for Victims and Survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence at Kansas State Capitol

On February 19, 2026 - advocates from across Kansas gathered at the State Capitol for the 23rd Advocacy Day for Victims and Survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence. The day brought together survivors, advocates, and community partners to ensure that the voices and experiences of survivors were centered in conversations with policymakers.

Hosted by the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) , Advocacy Day included participation from more than 20 domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy programs, tribal victim services programs serving Kansas Native communities, survivor leaders, and statewide partners. The Silent Witness Exhibit was displayed in the second-floor rotunda, honoring victims whose lives were lost to domestic violence and reminding visitors of the urgent stakes of this work.

KCSDV was joined by survivor-led policy organizations Jana’s Campaign and Claire’s Community, along with representatives from the Kansas Attorney General Victim Services Division.

“We are in a critical moment when conversations about sexual and domestic violence are filling headlines, but we are not talking enough about what survivors are actually facing in communities across Kansas,” said Michelle McCormick, Executive Director of KCSDV. “This is the one time each year when advocates can come together at the Capitol and make sure lawmakers understand the realities survivors are navigating and why continued investment in prevention and advocacy matters.”

Throughout the day, advocates met with legislators to discuss the growing challenges survivors face, including increased violence, longer recovery times, and significant barriers to safe and stable housing. Conversations emphasized the importance of supporting services that not only respond to crisis, but also help prevent violence before it happens.

Advocacy Day highlighted the full continuum of domestic and sexual violence advocacy, including:

Prevention programs that teach healthy relationships and help communities recognize abuse
Emergency shelter and housing support for survivors seeking safety
Sexual assault response and healing services
Child advocacy and protection orders to support family safety
Education and public awareness efforts that promote long-term change

“Advocacy means recognizing that we cannot wait until after violence occurs,” McCormick said. “Prevention work is just as essential as crisis response. Without it, we remain reactive - and the consequences for families and communities are devastating.”

Advocacy Day served as a call to action for policymakers to continue investing in programs that support survivors, strengthen prevention efforts, and build safer communities across Kansas. It also reaffirmed the collective commitment of advocates and survivors working every day to end domestic and sexual violence.

As part of this year’s Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW), Teresa Gallegos Director of Outreach and Accessibility for KCSDV was offered a training session addressing the barriers faced by Hispanic survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Her session, “Beyond Translations: Bridging the Gap for Hispanic Survivors of Violence,” explores how cultural stigma, immigration-related fears, and limited trust in authorities can hinder access to services. Teresa provides practical strategies for advocates, law enforcement, and legal professionals to more effectively engage with Hispanic communities through culturally responsive approaches and tools such as the Hispanic Toolkit.

Her commitment to equitable service delivery and inclusive training helps ensure that survivors from all backgrounds can access the support they need.
