Community Outreach Coordinator  – YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment, Topeka – January 2023

Job Classification:                      Exempt

Work Schedule:                           Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:30 pm (40 hours/week)

Salary:                                          $41,000 to $43,000

Reporting Relationship:             Center for Safety and Empowerment’s (CSE’s) Program Director

Primary Accountability: Maintains a safe and confidential environment for clients of YWCA Northeast Kansas’ Center for Safety and Empowerment (CSE). Provides administrative and program support for an agency serving victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking.

Major Duties:

  • Maintains regular communication with community partners regarding resources.
  • Retains a community resource agency library to assist advocates in finding and securing safe and affordable housing, healthcare and mental healthcare services, financial assistance, employment opportunities, etc.
  • Serves as the agency liaison and point-of-contact for community meetings, such as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), Shawnee County Homeless Taskforce, Safe Streets Coalition, etc.
  • Directly supervises CSE case management and court advocacy positions and facilitates case management team meetings.
  • Carries a small caseload of long-term case management clients.
  • Refers and coordinates with other agencies for services CSE does not provide.
  • Serves in the on-call rotation.
  • Answers hotline calls and provides support.
  • Assists with walk-in crisis victims/survivors, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in social work or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work well with a cross section of clients.
  • Ability to coordinate case management for a diverse client population.
  • Knowledge of local resources.
  • Ability to relate well to people in crisis.
  • Ability to function well in a crisis setting where interruptions are frequent.
  • Basic knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault dynamics.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive personal vehicle and to be moving from site to site on any given day.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb flights of stairs multiple times daily.
