MAVIS Project Coordinator – Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence
Position: Maternal Anti-Violence Innovation and Sharing (MAVIS) Project Coordinator

Responsible To: Director of Advocacy

Primary Responsibility: To carry out the goals and objectives of a collaborative project to ensure both perinatal health care providers and domestic violence and sexual assault service providers are equipped with the appropriate tools, skills, and community resources to consistently and adequately screen, educate, and refer pregnant and postpartum women for domestic violence, sexual assault, and behavioral health needs including Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS) and substance use disorders.

Specific duties: 

  • Coordinate and work closely with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE)
  • Become familiar with research and resources on best practices in domestic violence and sexual assault screening, intervention, and referrals for perinatal health care providers
  • Use evidence-based Universal Education intervention tools to customize for use in Kansas with focus on target populations
  • Provide training and technical assistance on screening, education, and intervention models and tools to identify and respond to domestic violence and sexual assault to birthing facilities and other perinatal health care providers
  • Increase collaboration and referrals between perinatal healthcare providers and domestic and sexual violence programs resulting in coordinated care and support services for pregnant and postpartum women
  • Assist with the development and execution of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between perinatal care providers and domestic violence and sexual assault services providers, ensuring that all Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) confidentiality provisions are followed
  • Develop sample documents and polices that reflect best practices for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) and domestic violence and sexual assault response and care protocols to be used as templates
  • Participate in select statewide committees related to domestic violence, sexual violence, maternal health, perinatal mental health, suicide, and/or substance use as assigned
  • Assist with other KCSDV duties as assigned.

Employment Status: Full-time (36 hours/wk), non-exempt (hourly)

Please note that this is a grant-funded position, and the project is scheduled to end September 30, 2026. Continuation of the position is subject to the availability of continued grant funding.

Salary: $47,000. We know that the practice of salary negotiation can contribute to pay inequities, this starting salary is non-negotiable. Our compensation structure—as well as our approach to future compensation adjustments—is transparent to all employees.

Location: This position offers a collegial working environment in our offices in downtown Topeka, KS. with a hybrid in-person/remote work schedule. Remote work is set for most staff as Mondays and Fridays, with weekly office hours as 8:30am-5:00pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30am-12:30pm (Fridays).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed: Previous experience with sexual and domestic violence advocacy and healthcare. Ability to develop materials and to train on topics relevant to this position. Ability to work with statewide systems and project partners to impact healthcare as it intersects with the needs of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to travel and have means of own transportation. Must be able to lift and carry 20-30 lbs.
