The Staff Accountant position is responsible for the organization’s financial accounting and bookkeeping, including but not limited to payroll, producing monthly financial statements, filing required reports, paying taxes, coordinating employee benefits, and other duties related to nonprofit bookkeeping.
This is a 3/4 time position with competitive compensation and benefits.

The Crisis Center, Inc. Job Description Position: Staff Accountant Responsible to: Executive Director
Primary Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the organization’s financial accounting and bookkeeping including but not limited to payroll, producing monthly financial statements, filing required reports, paying taxes, coordinating employee benefits, and other duties related to nonprofit bookkeeping.
• Manage Sage 50 accounting system and maintain required documentation
• Prepare monthly financial reports required by regulatory and funding agencies
• Prepare monthly balance sheet, income and expense report, and grant financial status reports
• Audit purchase orders, invoices, statements, and reimbursement vouchers for accuracy
• Manage all payroll functions including timely tax deposits
• Receive, record, and deposit receipts
• Prepare checks and/or ACHs for payment of approved expenditures
• Maintain personnel records and grant files
• Manage personnel benefits programs
• Assist with annual audit
• Assist with other duties as assigned
Requirements: A minimum of two years of experience in full accounting procedures required; degree or certification in accounting or business administration preferred; knowledge of or experience with fund accounting and/or nonprofit accounting; computer proficiency including accounting software and Microsoft Excel; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; flexibility; ability to work independently and keep work current; ability to take initiative and problem solve independently and with others; ability to relate to diverse individuals in a non-judgmental manner; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Each staff member of The Crisis Center, Inc. must pass a criminal background check, have reliable transportation, and be capable of lifting and carrying 20 – 30 pounds.
