RURAL 40-hour Adult/Adolescent SANE-SART Course
AUDIENCE: Hospital Emergency Department Personnel, Physicians, Licensed Physician Assistants, Registered Professional Nurses, SANE/SAFEs, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Victim Advocates, and other professionals who work with victims of sexual assault in rural Kansas communities

KCSDV is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering has been approved for contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure.

Part 1: Online Modules
Online Modules will be made available to approved registrants and must be completed before attending the in-person training.

*Day 4 is specific to nursing practice and attendance is encouraged, but optional, for non-nurses.

KCSDV must receive the registration fee by February 7, 2020. Registration will not be completed without payment. Payments will not be accepted at the door. No-shows and cancellations made less than 72 hours before the event will be assessed the registration fee.

A variety of presenters from the fields of forensic nursing, victim advocacy, law enforcement, and legal.

- Understanding trauma-informed response and care
- Understanding the forensic evidence collection process, including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation sexual assault evidence collection kit
- Identification of anatomy
- Identifying common injuries resulting from sexual assault
- Understanding Kansas Statutes related to sexual assault
- Understanding the criminal justice system
- Increasing knowledge of sex offender dynamics and behavior
- Understanding how Sexual Assault Response Teams function
