22nd Annual Advocacy Day

for Victims & Survivors of

Sexual and Domestic Violence

Each year, the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence brings survivor voices, advocates, allied professionals, and community leaders together at the Kansas State Capitol for the KCSDV Advocacy Day for Victims and Survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence - now in its 22nd year. We will be setup and speaking to the public and legislators at 8:30 AM on February 19th, 2026. Please join us in the Kansas State Capitol - First Floor Rotunda. Kansas State Legislators are invited to the Legislative Breakfast at 7:30 AM.

What is Advocacy Day?

Advocacy Day is a powerful opportunity to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence and the critical services that support victims and survivors across Kansas. It’s a day when advocates and community partners come together to educate lawmakers, celebrate survivor leadership, and strengthen public understanding of the impact of violence and the importance of effective policy and sustained support.

A Strong Coalition of Support

At the Capitol each year, you’ll find a united presence from all corners of the state. 24 community-based domestic and sexual violence programs and 5 tribal victim advocacy programs stand together to share information about services, support, outreach, and prevention efforts. These member programs represent front-line advocacy and survivor support across every region of Kansas.

Joining these agencies are allies from the SANE/SART community, survivor leaders, community educators, and victim service professionals—all working side-by-side to ensure that survivors’ experiences are heard, respected, and centered in public decision-making.

The Silent Witness Exhibit: Stories That Speak Volumes

A poignant highlight of Advocacy Day is the
Silent Witness Exhibit. Life-sized silhouettes represent Kansans who lost their lives to domestic or sexual violence. Each silhouette shares a real story of impact, loss, and community grief—reminding us that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a ripple of consequences felt by entire communities. The Silent Witnesses stand as both memorial and call to action.

Why It Matters

Advocacy Day increases understanding of how sexual and domestic violence affects every community and why ongoing support for survivors and the advocates who walk with them matters in every corner of Kansas. It strengthens our collective voice for public policies and funding that ensure survivors have access to safety, support, justice, and healing.
