No CommentsThis week, the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence’s (KCSDV) coalition member Safehouse Crisis Center, Inc. (Safehouse) opens a new domestic violence shelter in Pittsburg, Kansas. The new shelter serves as a resource for over 145 thousand people who live in the seven southeastern-most counties of Kansas and is the latest shelter built of 22 currently in the state of Kansas.

Kansas Lawmakers Pass Significant Violence- And Abuse-related Bills Into Law That Are Effective July 1, 2017

This Saturday, July 1, 2017, new domestic violence-, sexual assault- and stalking-related laws will go into effect for Kansas. The Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) worked with legislatures, advocates and survivors for four years to pass some of these laws. The laws come into effect just two weeks after KCSDV celebrated 35 years of being a leading statewide voice and coalition for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The nonprofit was founded on June 22, 1982.

This year, in a tumultuous year for women’s rights across the United States, the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) turns 35 years old. KCSDV was founded on June 22, 1982. KCSDV celebrated with a cake last Thursday, announcing the news on social media and via email to its over 25 coalition member organizations across the state of Kansas. This year marks an amazing milestone in work that has already touched so many lives in Kansas and beyond.
