Description:

KCSDV will be hosting a two-part virtual training series on the updated Kansas Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy Programs’ Guide to Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect. Part 1 will look at the laws around reporting child abuse and neglect, discuss what it means to be a mandated supporter, and what role advocates play in helping families when there are concerns about child abuse or neglect. Part 2 will provide an overview of model policies and best practices when responding to child abuse and neglect, utilizing the Kansas Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy Programs’ Guide to Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect.

Part 1: What Can You Do as an Advocate?

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify challenges programs may have when responding to concerns of child abuse and neglect
  • Describe challenges that survivors and their children may experience as a result of a mandated report being made
  • Define mandatory supporting

Part 2: Applying Model Policies and Best Practices

Thursday, December 8, 2022, 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what role advocates have when addressing concerns of child abuse and neglect
  • Differentiate model policies for programs when responding to concerns of child abuse and neglect
  • Utilize the updated Kansas Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy Programs’ Guide to Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect
