Join us for a webinar presented by Kate Tuig of Futures Without Violence, Annika Leonard and Mason-Sera Vincent of Priceless Incite, LLC. We will examine the criminalization of sexual abuse and identify strategies for preventing further criminalization for survivors. Presenters will discuss how advocates can introduce harm reduction strategies during incarceration and will review resources to support justice-impacted survivors post-incarceration.

Annika Leonard

Wherever she goes Annika Leonard feels called to create spaces where deep healing can occur, particularly in the lives of Black women and girls. On a national level, Annika has participated in the NFL African, Black & Caribbean Technical Assistance Intensive, the ACE-DV Leadership Forum of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and has consulted with the National Resource Center on Sexual Violence under several projects including the 2018 SART protocol and the Sexual Assault Demonstration Initiative, Elevate Uplift. Annika is a Leadership Education and Advancement for Professional Cohort 4 graduate and has provided consultant services to national organizations such as the Women of Color Network Inc., Florida Coalition against Domestic Violence, and the International Association of Human Values. Annika has served as the Chair of the Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault where her organization, Priceless Incite LLC., operates as a sexual assault service provider in the city of Milwaukee.

 

Mason-Sera Vincent 
Priceless Incite, LLC

Mason-Sera Vincent (they/them/theirs) is a Haitian agender femme queer person dedicated to radical change towards liberation for People of Color. Since being trained in restorative practices in 2017, they have held several conflict circles and engaged conflict mediation in both a professional and personal setting. After graduating Cum Laude from Florida Atlantic University obtaining a degree in English – Writing and Rhetoric Concentration, their goal are to utilize the written word and healing-centered strategies to support Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities.

 

 

Kate Vander Tuig
Futures Without Violence

Kate Vander Tuig is a Program Manager for Futures Without Violence, a health and social justice nonprofit with a simple mission: to heal those among us who are traumatized by violence today – and to create healthy families and communities free of violence tomorrow. Working as an advocate and community educator for over a decade, Kate believes that strong and connected communities hold the answers to healing from and preventing violence. Kate is responsible for resource development and technical assistance, and helps to coordinate the National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence. She is interested in community-based policies and programs that support survivors and the connection of health and relationships throughout the lifespan. She holds an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow. BA from the University of Michigan.
