A Conversation on Bridging the Gap for Male Survivors
Audience: KCSDV Member Program Advocates & Staff
Sponsored by:
Presented by:
National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)
Male survivors of sexual violence have long been underserved. Male survivors may be victimized as children, teenagers, or adults. The violence may occur in any number of settings: the military, in correctional facilities, on campus, in the community, etc. Join Louie Marver and Karla Vierthaler from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center for an interactive webinar, in which advocates will learn from each other how to best serve male survivors of sexual violence. We will identify barriers male survivors face while seeking services, consider how to form effective partnerships, and focus on effective messaging strategies.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify three barriers to service for men who have experienced sexual violence
- Describe two changes sexual assault centers can make to offer trauma-informed services to male survivors
- Give examples of two local organizations to form partnerships with to create healing opportunities for male survivors of sexual violence
