Join the Empowered Families Kansas Child Welfare Project Team for a three-part online training series on documenting domestic violence in child welfare. During the first session participants will practice strategies and skills to document the safety and protective actions of the non-abusive parent. The second session will focus on documenting batterer tactics, as well as holding the batterer accountable through documentation. The final session in the series will provide participants with strategies to facilitate and document family case plans with families experiencing domestic violence.

This virtual skills-based training series on domestic violence and child welfare will consist of three virtual training sessions for a total of 4.5 hours, and 1.5 hours pre-work. Directions for pre-work for this training series will be sent to participants in a logistics email after they have registered for this training, to include virtual training login information. It is critical that participants attend all sessions, as each session builds off the skills-based work in the previous session. Due to the interactive, skills-based nature of this training series, participants will need to have access to and utilize a web camera throughout each training session. Space is limited, so register soon! The training has a maximum capacity of 30 participants to accommodate skilled-based break out sessions.

The Domestic Violence Manual for Child Welfare Professionals will be utilized as a training tool during each training.  A PDF of the manual will be provided to participants prior to each session. Hard copies are also available by request. Email Kristina Scott, Child Welfare Project Coordinator at kscott@kcsdv.org to request your copy prior to any of the trainings.

This three-part training series has two tracks, morning or afternoon for participants to complete each session. It is critical that participants attend each session in the selected track to complete the three session series, as each session builds off the skills-based work in the previous session.
