Foundation and Fundamentals of Confidentiality for Advocates
Audience: KCSDV Member Program Staff Only
Sponsored by:
Survivor confidentiality is fundamental in sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy services. Confidentiality empowers survivors, enhances safety, and builds trust. Additionally, it is required by federal law. This webinar will help advocates better understand the importance of confidentiality in providing safe, empowering, survivor-centered services, as well as the federal confidentiality requirements and exceptions.
As a result of this training, participants will be better able to:
- Describe the federal confidentiality provisions that apply to community-based victim advocacy programs.
- Identify the limited exceptions to the federal confidentiality provisions.
- Identify best practices for maintaining survivor confidentiality and following federal requirements.
