Sponsored by:

Audience: Sheriff and Police personnel

Description: The KCSDV Protection Order Project is excited to create a space for Kansas law enforcement to discuss protection orders through this 4-part roundtable series.

Roundtables will include training, discussion, and information on protection order enforcement, trauma-informed best practices, protection order law, coordinated systemic response, and more. The purpose of this series is to include law enforcement at the table with the KCSDV Protection Order Project Coordinator in a conversation that provides opportunity for training and discussion around the protection order system. Law enforcement experience with the protection order system and enforcement of protection orders is vital to increase the safety and effectiveness of the protection order system for survivors.

Participants will:

  • Recognize how trauma impacts memories, behaviors, and the brain;
  • Identify trauma-informed interviewing best practices; and
  • Discuss building trust and rapport with victims seeking protection orders.
