40-Hour SANE Pediatrics Course

Audience: Healthcare professionals (APRN, RN, PA, and MD) and SANEs.

KCSDV is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 41.50 (pending approval) contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0291-0914.

KCSDV continues to monitor the situation with COVID-19 and will make adjustments, as necessary.  Registrants will be notified of any changes.  We will follow CDC KDHE and Wichita State University guidelines at this training to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Course Description

This course is comprised of recorded presentations and 2.5 days of in-person training, offering a total of 41.50 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits. The online modules and pre-recorded presentations have quizzes that must be completed as a requirement for this course. This training will cover the didactic (classroom) portion of your training. This course meets the IAFN SANE-PEDIATRIC Education Guidelines Training Requirements.

The recorded presentations must be completed by November 1, 2021. The in-person training is scheduled for November 2-4, 2021.

Course materials will be provided to participants.

Topics:

• Child abuse prevalence and history
• Indicators of child sexual abuse
• The pediatric medical forensic exam process
• Skills for taking a pediatric medical history
• Sexually transmitted diseases and children
• Physical and cognitive developmental stages of children

Part 1: Recorded Presentations (22.50 CNE Hours)

Recorded presentations will be made available to approved registrants and must be completed prior to attending the in-person course. The recorded presentations have a quiz that must be completed as a requirement for this course. Recorded presentations must be completed by November 1, 2021. 

Part 2: In-Person Training (19 CNE Hours)

The normal registration fee for this course ($150.00) is being sponsored through scholarships provided by Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kansas, Inc. ONLY for healthcare professionals (APRN, RN, MD, PA and SANEs).

No-shows and cancellations made less than 72 hours before the event will be assessed the registration fee.
