Description:

Please, join the KCSDV Child Welfare Project Team for a two-part online training series on addressing domestic violence in child welfare.  Part 1 will focus on getting to know the family including identifying risk and dangerousness factors of batterers, understanding the safety and protective actions of the non-abusive parent, and supporting the parent/child bond between the children and the non-abusive parent.  During Part 2 participants will practice strategies and skills to document batterer tactics and accountability, as well as the safety and protective actions of the non-abusive parent.  Participants will also learn how to identify interventions appropriate for families experiencing domestic violence and interventions that are not recommended.  A PDF copy of the Domestic Violence Manual for Child Welfare Professionals will be provided to all participants and utilized as a training tool during each training.

There are two opportunities to attend each part of the training.  Space is limited, so register soon! Participants are encouraged to attend Part 1, prior to attending Part 2, if at all possible. Due to the interactive, skills-based nature of this training, participants will need to have access to and utilize a web camera throughout each training session.
