The Building a Bridge Between Corrections and Advocacy curriculum was developed by the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV), with the assistance of the Kansas PREA Multidisciplinary Team. It is designed to be used by sexual assault advocates to provide training to staff in Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) facilities.  Topics covered in the curriculum include sexual violence and trauma, advocacy services, and the role of the advocate in responding to incarcerated survivors. In this Train the Trainer Course, participants will learn how to implement the Building a Bridge curriculum in their local facility.

As a result of this training, participants will be better able to:

  • Utilize the Building a Bridge curriculum in KDOC facilities.
  • Identify possible modifications to the curriculum to best meet the needs of the audience.
