Morning Session: Introduction to Survivor-Based Immigration Relief and Providing Trauma-Informed Services to Immigrant Survivors of Gender-Based Violence
Monday, February 13, 2023, 10:00 a.m. – noon (CST)
ASISTA Immigration Assistance and Esperanza United are pleased to offer an introductory training on survivor-based immigration relief for the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence. This 2-hour interactive training is intended for non-attorney advocates who work with immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. The training will cover topics including immigration myths and facts, immigration options for survivors, an overview of recent immigration policy changes, how advocates can support a survivor throughout the immigration case, and the provision of trauma-informed and language-accessible services to immigrant survivors.
By participating in this training, attendees will be better able to:
- Identify immigration options that may be available to immigrant survivors of gender-based violence.
- Understand recent immigration policy changes that are relevant to immigrant survivors.
- Distinguish between myths and facts about survivors and the U.S. immigration system.
- Provide trauma-informed and language-accessible services to immigrant survivors of gender-based violence.

Afternoon Session: Kansas Immigration Attorney Panel
Monday, February 13, 2023, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. (CST)
The panel will discuss best practices on how advocates can help undocumented survivors understand their immigration situation and ways to protect benefits for which they may be eligible.
Objective: To give advocates tips and tools to help preserve undocumented survivor victims’ immigration options.
